32,000 Hectares and Counting: CMC Welcomes its First Cohort of Ranchers

13 May 2025

We are excited to announce that we have enrolled the first cohort of ranchers into our program, totalling 32,000 hectares of grassland.

We have submitted soil samples to US-based soil measurement and mapping specialists EarthOptics, which will deliver third-party soil carbon analytics to the enrolled ranches. They will then submit the results to the nonprofit carbon registry BCarbon, ensuring transparency and credibility in emissions reporting.

This milestone is the first step in our journey to accelerate the adoption of rotational grazing across Uruguay, enabling significant carbon sequestration and delivering a range of benefits to ranchers and their communities.

Juan Rendueles, President of CMC said “I am excited about the opportunity to help ranchers diversify their income streams, ensuring that their farms can be preserved and passed down through generations”.

This is just the beginning. We plan to expand our program rapidly, with a target of 1 million hectares in the next five years.
